DC vs CSK 2025: DC Break 15-Year Chepauk Jinx

DC vs CSK 2025: 15 Saal Baad DC Ne Chepauk Mein Jeet Ka Swad Chakhha

In a historic showdown at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Delhi Capitals (DC) ended their long-standing drought at the Chepauk by defeating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 25 runs. This momentous victory marked DC’s first win at the iconic venue in 15 years, their last triumph coming way back in 2010. The match was a gripping display of composed batting, explosive middle-order cameos, and strategic bowling that shut the door on CSK’s hopes of a successful chase.

Rahul’s Classy Knock Sets the Foundation

In the absence of Faf du Plessis, KL Rahul opened the innings and took on the responsibility with poise and maturity. He played a captain-like innings, anchoring the Delhi innings with a crucial 77 off 51 balls. From the outset, Rahul appeared in control, rotating the strike smartly and punishing the loose deliveries. His partnership with young Abishek Porel (33 off 20 balls) ensured DC got off to a solid start in the powerplay, which is often critical at Chepauk.

The duo’s 68-run opening stand laid the perfect platform for the middle order to launch in the death overs.

Middle Order Delivers Late-Over Fireworks

After the solid opening stand, DC looked to build momentum heading into the final stretch of their innings — and the middle-order batters did not disappoint.

  • Axar Patel chipped in with a handy 21 off 14 balls, striking a boundary and a six before falling while accelerating.
  • Tristan Stubbs provided the final flourish, smashing an unbeaten 24 off just 12 balls, playing some breathtaking strokes on a tricky surface.
  • Sameer Rizvi, known for his fearless approach, also added a useful 20 off 15, ensuring the scoreboard kept ticking.

Despite CSK’s experienced bowling attack trying to contain the innings, DC posted a very competitive 183/6 in 20 overs, a challenging target at Chepauk.

Delhi’s Bowlers Deliver a Masterclass

Delhi Capitals backed up their batting performance with a clinical bowling effort. From the very first over, the bowlers executed their plans with precision, keeping CSK under pressure throughout the chase.

Kuldeep Yadav, as always, maintained tight lines and was rewarded with the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja, further denting CSK’s chase.

Mukesh Kumar struck early by removing Rachin Ravindra, brought in as an Impact Player, giving DC an ideal start.

Mitchell Starc, brought into the attack during the powerplay, cleaned up CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, dealing a major blow to the home side.

Vipraj Nigam was the surprise package, grabbing 2/27, including the big wicket of the dangerous Shivam Dube.

Middle Overs Mayhem

However, Siraj wasn’t done yet. Just as SRH began to rebuild, he returned in the middle overs to tighten the screws. Consequently, he dismissed Simranjeet Singh with a cleverly disguised slower ball. Immediately after, he followed it up by castling Aniket Verma, who had no answers to Siraj’s lethal pace and precision.

By the end of his four-over spell, Siraj had taken four crucial wickets while maintaining an incredible economy rate of just 4.25. Moreover, his impeccable line and length offered no room for the batters to free their arms. Additionally, his variations kept them guessing throughout, making it one of the finest spells of IPL 2025 so far.
