KKR vs SRH 2025: Venkatesh Iyer’s Quickfire 60 Leads KKR to Dominant Win

In the KKR vs SRH 2025 match at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) emerged victorious over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by a commanding 80-run margin. Venkatesh Iyer, in scintillating form, blasted a quickfire 60 runs off just 29 balls, playing a pivotal role in KKR’s dominant total. As a result, this win not only reinforced KKR’s solid position in the tournament but also highlighted Iyer’s consistent brilliance against SRH, marking his third consecutive half-century against them.

KKR’s Explosive Innings: Iyer Leads the Charge

After being put in to bat by SRH, KKR’s top order set a strong foundation with a blistering performance. The innings was anchored by the explosive Venkatesh Iyer, who continued his incredible run against SRH, making a swift 60. His innings included 6 fours and 3 sixes. Moreover, he dominated the SRH bowlers with aggression and timing. Iyer’s knock was crucial in setting the tone for KKR’s innings, especially on a pitch that offered good bounce for the batters.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi also played a vital role, scoring a steady 50 off 32 balls. In particular, his ability to rotate the strike and find boundaries when needed helped maintain the tempo of the innings. Therefore, his knock ensured that KKR had a solid middle-order platform from which they could attack further.

In the latter stages of the innings, Rinku Singh provided the perfect finish with a quickfire 32* off 17 balls. Singh’s unbeaten knock, filled with powerful strokes, pushed KKR’s total to a daunting 200/6 in their 20 overs.

For SRH, the bowlers struggled to maintain consistency. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar and T Natarajan bowled tight spells, it was the lack of breakthroughs in the middle overs that allowed KKR to accelerate. Nevertheless, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s experience and control helped him claim two wickets. However, the damage had already been done by Iyer and Raghuvanshi’s partnerships.

SRH’s Response: A Collapse Under Pressure

Chasing 201, SRH’s innings never gained momentum. From the outset, they struggled to find boundaries, with KKR’s bowlers applying consistent pressure. Openers Abhishek Sharma and Harry Brook were dismissed early. Consequently, the middle order was left with a mountain to climb.

Vaibhav Arora was exceptional in the opening spell, taking crucial wickets to reduce SRH to 52/4 in just 7 overs. Arora’s pace and accuracy were too much for SRH’s top order. In fact, he claimed 3 wickets for just 29 runs. His breakthroughs — including the dismissals of captain Aiden Markram and Rahul Tripathi — pushed SRH on the backfoot right from the start.

The pressure mounted further as Varun Chakaravarthy entered the attack. Known for his mystery spin, Chakaravarthy was brilliant in the middle overs. He effectively stifled SRH’s attempts to rebuild. His figures of 3/22 included the vital scalp of Glenn Phillips, one of the few batters who looked capable of making a dent in the chase.

Furthermore, SRH continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Only Washington Sundar (22) and T Natarajan (17) offered any resistance. Eventually, SRH was bowled out for just 120 runs in 16.4 overs, sealing a comprehensive defeat and highlighting the quality of KKR’s bowling attack..

Key Performances

  • Venkatesh Iyer: His blistering 60 runs set the stage for KKR’s imposing total. Iyer’s rapid scoring not only kept the scoreboard ticking but also put pressure on SRH’s bowlers, allowing the other batsmen to play freely around him.

  • Vaibhav Arora: Arora’s opening spell was a game-changer, as he dismantled SRH’s top order with his fiery pace. He finished with figures of 3/29, proving to be a key weapon in KKR’s bowling arsenal.

Varun Chakaravarthy: Chakaravarthy’s performance in the middle overs was outstanding. He picked up 3 wickets for 22 runs, ensuring that SRH’s middle order had no opportunity to recover. His ability to contain runs and take wickets made him the standout spinner of the match.

A Dominant Win for KKR

This 80-run victory marks an important milestone for Kolkata Knight Riders. They have now strung together a series of impressive performances in IPL 2025. Their all-round strength — explosive batting led by Iyer and Raghuvanshi, and clinical bowling from Arora and Chakaravarthy — was on full display.

On the other hand, for SRH, the loss is a major setback. Their inability to chase down a manageable target due to constant wickets leaves them with plenty to work on in upcoming matches.
